I have been really bad at updating the past six months.
Thank you all, especially those of you who I have never met, for the emails telling me to get off my lazy ass, find some sick tracks and do an update.

DJshrifty.com will be switching to my new website, www.RideSole.com

I have started a company making fixed gear bicycles that are truly affordable for all to afford and fun as hell to ride. On the site, there will be a blog and within the next month we will officially launch. Everyday we will update a new downloadable song as well as cool videos, dope fashion, bike news, and more.

DJshrifty.com is not be done forever. Just a long Hiatus. Kind of like a long distance relationship. Maybe well all reconnect metaphorically like once we graduate college.

This post is a bit a-typical from the norm yall are accustomed to. This almost melodic track from Prodigy blends a Thievery Corporation style voice with some seriously hard breakbeats that somehow, brings a smile to my face when I hear it. I had never really given much love to The Prodigy, famous for “Smack my Bitch Up”, until I saw them live at Ultra Music Festival where they rocked me and the 100,000 other ravers in the audience. They use thumping base and crazy voices. It may be a bit much for you loyal DJShrifty readers but what do you think?

Hailing from Koreatown in LA, these four best friends have teamed up blending a super electro beat with some dope club lyrics. The use of sound effects oddly and happily complements the beat. Not quite rapping, not quite autotune, Far East Movement definitely delivers a boisterous summer club anthem.

This song is produced by Mylo, out of England. This guy was studying to get his PhD here in the states from UCLA and in the process produced some amazing songs right off his laptop. This song went straight to the tops of British charts and he dropped out of school now producing and remixing songs for Amy Winehouse and the Killers. In this dancefloor, bass grooving jam, Mylo mashes up “Miami Sound Machine” to make a quirky summer jam.

Signed by The Game, Ya Boy is another one of those up and coming rappers. This song sounds mighty electro and is a sick crossover blending different genres together. The only thing that puzzles me is why Ya Boy, hailing from the San Fran bay area rapping about running So Cal?
